Twitter is a microblogging service where you can share 140 characters at a time. These short bits of information are called Tweets. Twitter describes a Tweet as “an expression of a moment or idea”. It can contain text, photos, and videos. Millions of Tweets are shared in real time, every day. It is very useful as you can follow your prospects, customers and target companies to learn more about them.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network with 300 million business people using it. It is great for building up your professional profile. Although some people look at it as an online CV or resume it is so much more. It can make you be better at your current job by helping you build new and better relationships as well as help you learn more about what the people in your network are doing and sharing.

Google Alerts

Google Alerts are automated Google searches which you can receive daily or weekly every time a new web page that matches your search results is published on the internet. It matches the keywords you tell them you are interested in such as mentions of your name or company name.

Quora

Quora is a question-and-answer website where questions are created, answered, edited and organised by its community of users. It is a great place to find people who are looking for answers to problems you can help with. However, just like in any other business situation it is not advisable to jump straight in with a sales pitch. It will not be very well received.

Bizzabo

Bizzabo is the networking platform for event organisers and attendees. Bizzabo integrates social media to build interactive event communities, helping organisers, sponsors and exhibitors to engage directly with guests and seek out meaningful new business opportunities. It is great for people attending events to maximise the benefit of attending the event They can find out who is going to that event before they get there so they can try and start building a relationship with those people.
